Originally opened in 1963, Morrissey Engineering was retained to provide engineering services for the renovation of this University of Nebraska at Kearney campus library. The renovation will modernize the library and create spaces that better meet the needs of students, staff, and faculty.

Features
The 122,308-square-foot renovation has transformed the library into a modern learning center for students, faculty, staff, and the community. The three-level facility features flexible spaces equipped with advanced technology, group work areas, and dedicated quiet study zones to support diverse learning needs. Expanded program spaces facilitate events and foster connections across campus and the community. Enhanced access to the University of Nebraska at Kearney archives enables students and researchers to more easily locate and utilize the university's historical collections.

The $56 million renovation includes significant upgrades to lighting, flooring, ceilings, paint, furniture, restrooms, IT infrastructure, and HVAC systems, enhancing both comfort and modernity. New glass facades and improved entrances increase natural light and create a more welcoming environment. Mechanical, electrical, and lighting system upgrades improve energy efficiency and ensure the library will serve students, researchers, and the community for years to come.
