Cosentry awarded finalist status

OMAHA, Neb., – November 18, 2014 – Cosentrythe leading Midwest provider of Data Center Services, today announced the company has been awarded “Finalist” status for twoDatacenterDynamics North American awards within the “Green Data Center” and the “Innovation in the Medium Data Center” categories. More specifically, the company was highlighted for its dedication to supporting green initiatives and the efficiency of its mid-sized data center.

Operating nine data centers across five mid-western markets, Cosentry’s services empower companies to handle the high-density IT loads of today’s infrastructures while meeting and surpassing security, availability and scalability requirements.  The company’s Omaha-Midlands site is the first LEED Gold Certified data center in the state, one of 21 nationwide – ranking among the Top 10 percent in the country for energy efficiency.  The data center includes raised floors, cabinets, economizer, an Ecaro Fire suppression system – as well as redundant cooling, power, connectivity and 24/7 monitoring and support.

The Omaha-Midlands location has implemented energy-saving measures that save thousands of dollars per year by reducing CO2 emissions by 3,240 tons per year -- all while minimizing power and water consumption.  The site supports all critical industry standards, such as OSHA, PCI-DSS, SSAE16, and HIPAA.  Highly energy efficient, the infrastructure is Energy Star Certified (2012-2014) and one of two data centers in the world to prove LEED EBOM Gold during an 18 month period.

“The data security, processing and scalability needs are constantly evolving and changing,” said Jason Black, VP of Data Center Services. “To meet these demands, we’ve built our data centers to exceed our customers’ expectations while accommodating important green and environmental initiatives.  We’re proud the editors of DatacenterDynamics have chosen to recognize us for our long-standing commitment.”

The “Innovation in the Medium-Data Center” Award from DatacenterDynamics singles out those infrastructures that have a net IT Load Capacity in the range of 100 – 999kW – which represents the size of scope of many principal IT facilities.  Editors award these facilities based on their unique design, operation, and optimization characteristics.

The publication’s “Green Data Center” Award recognizes the reality of designing and operating data centers in the context of environmental scrutiny.  The category celebrates success of those who have managed to balance established responsibilities in providing resilient and responsive facilities alongside consideration of wider corporate sustainability and environmental responsibility.
